Start-up since college-time
The 4.0 industrial revolution and the transformation of the world economy into the knowledge economy are putting Vietnam ahead of new opportunities and challenges. In order that Vietnam can best utilize of the opportunities and minimize the challenges of the industrial revolution, higher education in general and education in particular need to be fundamentally and completely renovated to create a new generation of skilled intellectuals in a globalized, complex and fast changing environment.
Promoting entrepreneurship and innovation is a major policy of the Party and the State, as addressed in the Government’s Resolution No. 35/NQ-CP dated 16th May 2016 on supporting and developing enterprises by 2020, Decision No. 844/QD-TTg dated May 18th, 2016 by the Prime Minister approval for assistance policies on national innovative startup ecosystem to 2025.
Being the core of the national education system, VNUHCM has deployed the system and made practical contributions to shaping programs and policies to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in Ho Chi Minh City. Especially, the pilot VNUHCM-Information Technology Park (VNUHCM-ITP), a member of Quang Trung Software City Chain (QTSC), was established by the Prime Minister in accordance with the Decision No. 333/QD-TTg dated March 03rd, 2016 – has gradually become a dynamic start-up cluster in the field of information and communication. VNUHCM-ITP is currently attracting over active 40 start-up units, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that almost every single project engages students. There are approximately 300 students taking long-term internships at VNUHCM-ITP annually. Among which, the number of founding and co-founding students in startups accounts for nearly 10 percent. To 2020, VNUHCM-ITP is expected to gather 100 companies and create 2000 employments and bring opportunities to over 2000 students.
This is the period that educational institutions that want to exist and sustainably development must derive from real quality and build a solid foundation towards assuring quality and taking advantage of integration as well as robust startup movement. I believe that, with the thorough strategy of quality assurance, the sensitivity and determination expressed by our leaders, lecturers, scientists, the efforts made by students and graduate students, combined with the advocacy and effective assistance of the State and society, VNUHCM will strongly develop on the harsh yet glorious pathway of education.
On the occasion of the Opening of the 2017-2018 school year, we would like to wish all teachers, cadres, civil servants, laborers and students a new school year full of energy, freshness, creativity and success.
