More than 2,000 candidates take VNUHCM-IU’s mock test for entrance examination
On May 27th-28th, more than 2,000 candidates took part in the Competency Assessment Test organized by VNUHCM-International University (VNUHCM-IU). Of the exam subjects, math (compulsory subject) has the highest proportion of participation (93.39%) while electives including physics, biology, chemistry, and English are taken by over 90% contestants.

“This is the first time VNUHCM-IU holds such tests for enrollment. Candidates need only to meet two requirements which are passing the upcoming national examination and the threshold of the assessment test to be admitted to VNUHCM-IU without any further exams,” said Prof. Ho Thanh Phong, Rector of VNUHCM-IU.
The contents of exam questions are divided into different levels. The ability to memorize and use knowledge accounts for 50% (basic); the ability to reason and summarize makes up 20% (intermediate), while 15% contents requires the ability to calculate and make a complicated reasoning (upper-intermediate), and 10% and 5% contents are used to evaluate the ability to reason and summarize (pre-advanced) and creativeness (advanced) respectively. The total score is 100 points, in which the correct answer is scored and the wrong one is not deducted.
This mothed of admission selection is applied to 35% of the total enrolling student number of VNUHCM-IU. Besides this method, the school recruits 50% students based on the results of 2017 high school finals, gives priority to students winning prizes in international and national examinations for gifted students (5%) and gives gifted-school students with high GPA (over 8/10) admittance to the school without going through the two aforementioned requirements.
