VNUHCM’s Board of Education Quality Assurance Held the 17th Meeting

VNUHCM’s Board of Education Quality Assurance (the Board) marked its XVII meeting on April 12th, to sum up the training assessment and quality assurance of the fourth quarter of 2016 and go through planning for 2017. Prof. Huynh Thanh Dat, President of VNUHCM, Chairman of the Board presided the meeting.

According to the report of  Dr. Nguyễn Quốc Chính, Director of Center for Educational Testing and Quality Assessment, until the end of 2016, VNUHCM has had 44 programs with external assessment based on AUN-QA Criterion, among  that, there are 30 programs received official assessment by AUN (Southeast Asian Universities Network)

“On the university level, 5 among 6 partner universities of VNUHCM passed the assessment and were accredited by Minister of Education and Training with distinction at training institutions level standard. University of Technology will take the university level assessment in accordance with AUN Criterion in September 2017” – Mr. Chính announced.

In the meeting, two reports from VNUHCM-University of Economics and Laws and VNUHCM-International University, about “Information and data management system in quality assurance” and “Process of collecting responses and improve subjects, training programs quality” were presented respectively to the Board.

Most of the Boards members expressed their common concerns about maintain and improve assessment and internal quality assurance programs

As analyzing main factors to advance quality assurance programs, the Board stated that the audited program requires sufficient preparation; their self-report team need inherited assets; meanwhile focus on constant development, plan to build their advantages, limit the drawbacks after each assessment.

In conclusion, Prof. Huynh Thanh Dat gave compliments for all universities’ efforts, especially VNUHCM-University of Technology for their preparation for AUN this September.

“I agreed with other members of the Board in auditing to ensure our own quality. We need to improve our management documents system; enhance coordination among our system, invest resources and focus on assessment standards of MOET; and pay attention to internal and external factors to uplift the assessment results”, said the Board’s Chairman.

In 2017, the Board acceded to the decision to apply internal general-assessment with AUN-QA Criterion for 11 programs and official general-assessment with AUN-QA Criterion for 8 other programs.
