Singing of Cooperation in human resource training in Information technology Print

In the afternoon December 5th, VNUHCM-Information Technology Park (VNUHCM-ITP) and InfoTrain Jetking Academy, India held the signing ceremony of cooperation personnel training in information technology. The signing ceremony was to implement the Hire-Train-Placement (HTP) joint training program.

Attending the ceremony were Dr. Le Thai Hy - Director of HCMC Department of Information and Communication, Dr. Huynh Quyen - Deputy Director of Science and Technology Department-Viet Nam National University, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Thi – Director of VNUHCM- ITP, and Mr. Harsh Suresh Bharwani - Vice President of Jetking InfoTrain Academy.


Dr. Nguyen Anh Thi and Mr Suresh Harsh Bharwani exchanged the conclusion.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Anh Thi said: "Lack of high quality human resources in the field of information technology and communication is one of the major obstacle to the country's development. Therefore, we need to seek new models of cooperation with developed countries in the world to solve this problem. India is an experienced partner and also a brand in the field of science - technology. We believe that with the signing today, although it’s only a short-term solution for human resource training, it will contribute somehow to solving the shortage of the current labor market ".

According to Dr. Le Thai Hy, the conclusions of the training program of ITP in recent years were efforts in line with the policy of the city and government in training high quality human resources and create a start-up environment for the young.

HTP is a skill development and effective job searching program in technology for students within and outside VNUHCM, including freshly graduated students who are looking for a job. The program will provide knowledge and skills to students in the fields of information technology, multimedia art and finance with 6-month training period.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Hiep received Talented Young Science Researcher 2016 award Print


Dr Nguyen Thi Hiep, lecturer of Department of Biomedical Engineering, VNUHCM-International University has been awarded Talented Young Science Researcher (L'OREAL National Fellowships) in the morning of 29/11, in Hanoi.

 With research project about new discovery of Titanium material in restorative dentistry sector, Dr Hiep has been received L'Oreal – UNESCO Association Council Science Award's evaluation of high caliber, good research ability, has passion for science research and extensive experience in designing biomaterials.

Dr Nguyen Thi Hiep was born in 1981, got Bachelor's degree in Chemistry at VNUHCM-University of Science and Ph.D degree at Soonchunhyang University (South Korea). In 2012, Dr. Hiep returned to be lecturer of Biomedical Engineering Department, VNUHCM- International University.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Hiep has over 10 years researching on materials for medical applications and their interactions on cells and tissues. During this time, Dr. Hiep has 26 scientific publications of ISI, 6 scientific publications in international journals, 6 articles in domestic and more than 40 scientific articles in international conferences.

L'OREAL National Fellowship is a scholarship within the framework of L'Oreal – UNESCO Science Award For the women development in science. This year, L'Oreal National Fellowship awarded to three young researchers working and studying in Vietnam that have scientific research and long-term contribution to the scientific development of the country.

VNUHCM-International University awarding 87 new Master’s degrees. Print

On November 27th, at the Independent Palace, VNUHCM-International University (VNUHCM-IU) held a graduation ceremony awarding 97 new Masters graduate.
Among them, there are 87 students from VNUHCM-IU programs and 10 graduated from the associate programs which were awarded by Northeastern University (USA).

Founded in 2003, VNUHCM-IU is the first public university in Vietnam to use English as the teaching language at both graduate and undergraduate level. So far, the university has PhD training programs (Biotechnology and Business Administration) and 8 master's training programs (Business Administration, Biotechnology, Information Technology Management, Electrical Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, Biomedical Technology, Public Management and Food technology).
VNUHCM-International University has been qualified international standards (ABET, ACCSB, ...) as well as the required regulations from US partner universities. The university has 6 training university programs that meet the standard assessment of ASEAN University Network and has been recognized standard for education quality inspection of Ministry of Education and Training in November this year.


Establishing VNUHCM Branch in Ben Tre Print

On 25th November, VNUHCM Council organized the second meeting in session IV. The council had a hearing on the conclusion report of the year 2016, and review of the VNUHCM activity plan for the yeat of 2017 and discussed Project Establishing Branch of VNUHCM.


Up 54 ranks higher than the former year
In this session, the personnel affairs of the Council of VNUHCM conducted as has been agreed on the number of members and committees in the first session on date 24/6. Accordingly, Prof. Dr. Tran Hong Quan, former Minister of Education and Training was appointed as Head of Strategy subcommittee; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tan Phat, former Deputy Minister of Education and Training, former President of VNUHCM was appointed Head of Technical subcommittees; Mr. Tran Ba Duong, Chairman Board of JSC Truong Hai Auto was appointed Head of Finance Subcommittee.
The council also elected Ms. Ong Thi Ngoc Linh, Secretary of VNUHCM Youth Union council member and Mr. Pham Thanh Son, former Secretary of VNUHCM Youth Union to recess from the council. Dr. Nguyen Tan Phat, ViceDirector of VNUHCM-Department of Human Resources was elected secretary of the council.
According to the Report on the activities of VNUHCM, in 2016 VNUHCM achieved many positive achievements. On technology transfer, by the end of August 2016, VNUHCM had a turnover of 99.98 billion, 340 applications for registration of intellectual property including 113 shares granted monopoly protection. VNUHCM announced a total of 1,808 papers at conferences and international journals nationalwide. Of these, 205 articles are on the list of ISI. QS Asia ranked VNUHCM 147th in Asia, up 54 positions from 2015.
Regarding training, VNU has 45 internal evaluation programs, 30 AUN-QA external assessment programs, program evaluation ABET 2, 7 Benchmarking program CTI, 5 and 62 schools implementing industry the CDIO.

Integration of quality education
On orientation in 2017, VNUHCM will prioritize strategic deployment group 6 and 6 key programs include: model system administration; financial mechanism and resources development; education quality; Research efficiency; university urban area – the city of science; cooperation and integration development.
The activities will focus thematically on research capacity building for teachers and scientists; formation of teams of young potential researchers. VNUHCM will also mount collaborative research resources throughout the city, improving the admission affairs…
Mr. Tran Viet Thanh, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology said that, in 2017, activities of intellectual property and scientific publications of VNUHCM will have to improve on the overall and prove its capacity of a center for education, training and leading researchers in the country. The data from the intellectual property will indicate the trend in innovative technologies. China each year has more than a million patent applications, while Vietnam has only 600-700 patents, VNUHCM own more than 300 shares, but this is still a modest figure. VNUHCM have to be quick in commercializing ideas and researches as ideas when published through articles will not be protected anymore.
Professor Vu Dinh Thanh, Rector of VNUHCM-University of Technology suggested that against the pressure of comprehensive autonomy of universities in 2020, the members of the VNUHCM must review their resources, particularly the promotion of human resources.
According to Dr. Phan Thanh Binh in 2017 VNU-HCM will face a shortfall of about 300 billion VND, so arises the need to identify additional viable and efficient sources . Referring to university rankings issue, he stressed: “VNUHCM must strive to stand on the top 100 Asian universities by 2020. That means in four years, VNU must pass 47 ‘competitors’. Who they are and what we must do to compete are questions that must be cleared”.
The Council discussed draft proposals to build a branch of VNU-HCM in Ben Tre. The members agreed that, university branching model has long appeared in the world and Vietnam also has 10 universities implementing on branching. VNUHCM has member universities and so should have an approriate distribution model. The council unanimously approved a resolution to be submitted to the relevant ministries for evaluation and approval.
The Council chose the theme of the year 2017 “Integration of quality education” and expected the third session will be held on May 6/2017.


University of Technology announces 255 international articles in 10 months Print

10 billion VND for VNUHCM Start-up Fund Print

International University awarded Bachelor degrees to 618 students course 2012-2016 Print

On 14 October, VNUHCM-International University held a graduation ceremony for 618 students of 7 faculties and majors of class of 2012-2016. This is the 10th graduation ceremony of VNUHCM-International University after 13 years of establishment.

The University of Mahidol visited and met with students of VNU-HCM Print

              On March 25, 2013 the delegates from Mahidol University, Thailand, led by Prof. Bundhit Jirajariyavej, Vice President, came to visit and meet with the Presidential Board. Dr. Nguyen Duc Nghia, Vice President welcomed and worked with the delegates.
