Memorandum of Understanding signing Ceremony between VNU-HCM and Hiroshima University

On February 6,  2010, the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) represented by Professor Le Quang Minh – Vice President of VNU –HCM and Hiroshima University, Japan by Prof. Toshimasa Asahara – President of Hiroshima University.

The ceremoney was held under the witness of Mr. Seiki Furudate – Head of Press and Culture Section, Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, Prof. Toshiyuki Sate – Vice Executive of International Corporation, Mr. Noriyuki Komaru – President and Executive Officer of Fukuyama Transporting Company, Mr. Masaru Sato – President and Executive Officer of Sun-S Company, Mr. Kazutoshi Matsuzaki – Chief of Human Department, Mr. Keiichi Tanaka – Chair of Hiroshima University Alumni Association, Mr. Magumi Sugahara – Director of International Corporation and  Representatives of University of Technology VNU-HCM, Director of Center for Japan Studies at University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The content of the agreement is to establish a bilateral relation, and exchange lecturers, students and post-graduates. It includes (1)Promoting  joint research programs between two universities,  (2) Faculty, administrator and student exchange (3) Academic materials and information exchange and (4) other  academic activities, etc.

Accordingly, Hiroshima University Vietnam Center will be established and located at VNU-HCM. This aims to serve the joint training and research and to strengthen student exchange between Vietnam and Japan. Specifically, the Center recruits Vietnamese students to postgraduate programs in Japan, takes Hiroshima students to Vietnam, supports the joint researches and educational exchanges between Japan and Vietnam, and introduces Japanese culture and people in Vietnam…

At the ceremony, each university had presentations to introduce an overview of its own establishment, development, education scheme and graduate as well as postgraduate programs. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Minh, Vice President of VNU-HCM, stated that this collaborative program would open up more opportunities for not only Vietnamese or Japanese students to study and do research but also researchers in Vietnam or Japan to do mutual exchanges for academic materials and to share experience of scientific research.

In addition, Prof. Toshimasa Asahara, President of Hiroshima University, said that in the future, Hiroshima University would have cooperation with university members of VNU-HCM on some academic programs such as economy, transportation and medicine. Hiroshima University is one of Japan’s largest public universities of economic and medical field. The university includes 11 faculties, 20 research centers and institutions, 4 libraries and graduate schools. He hoped the university would soon cooperate with university members of VNU-HCM in programs on economy, society and medicine.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony of establishing Hiroshima University Center in Vietnam
This agreement singing ceremony is an important event to search and exchange information, and this cooperation between VNU-HCM and Hiroshima University also includes Japanese corporations. It is more meaningful that this cooperation is combined with the need to provide human resources for labor market of two countries. Moreover, the good relationship between Japan and Vietnam will be more strengthened.
