The University of Mahidol visited and met with students of VNU-HCM

              On March 25, 2013 the delegates from Mahidol University, Thailand, led by Prof. Bundhit Jirajariyavej, Vice President, came to visit and meet with the Presidential Board. Dr. Nguyen Duc Nghia, Vice President welcomed and worked with the delegates.

               In his speech at the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Duc Nghia appreciated the remarkable efforts of Mahidol University in promoting the collaboration with universities in Vietnam, especially with VNUHCM. Through student exchange programmes, students in ASEAN will have excellent opportunities to gain thorough understandings about the culture of the countries in the region, thereby strengthening the mutual solidarity within the orientation forward the ASEAN Community in 2050, he added.

              At VNUHCM, Mahidol University students were introduced and visited the University Urban of VNUHCM, met with students of the University of Economics and Law, VNUHCM, and participated in a meeting about Vietnamese culture.

              The University of Mahidol found in 1888 is one of the most prestigious universities in Thailand. Mahidol University has 6 schools, 17 faculties, 7 institutes and 9 research centres in many different specialities.  In addition, Mahidol University has 2 Medicine Departments, 4 hospitals with roughly 4000 beds, training more than 1000 doctors per year. Many training programmes with the international standards, teaching completely in English are also available. According to QS Asian Rankings in 2012, Mahidol University ranked the 38th in Asia and the 202th in the world by Webometrics.


Dr. Nguyen Duc Nghia, Vice President of VNU-HCM, said: "One of the fundamental purposes of AUN member universities is to enhance the student meeting in the regions."
