26 Years Old – 5 Scientific works announced
Nguyen Lac Ha, aged 26, was a post-graduate at Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City’s Center for Innovative Materials and Architectures (VNUHCM-INOMAR). In academic year 2015-2016, Lac Ha and his colleagues announced 5 scientific works on many prestigious scientific journals in Chemistry with the total Impact Factor of 41,6. Ha was the main author of the work which was post on Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS) magazine with the Impact Factor of 13,038. JACS is praised as one of the most prestigious scientific journals in Chemistry in the United States of America.
Lac Ha is one of the key and also the youngest researchers in VNUHCM-INOMAR, he was directly in charge of laboratory researching on material structure by X–ray diffraction; including both powder X–ray diffraction (PXRD) and Single–crystal X–ray Diffraction (SCXRD).
Nguyen Lac Ha graduated from Can Tho University with Engineering Chemistry Major in 2011. He participated in the MANAR Ph.D. program based on the cooperation between Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and later was University of California, Berkeley (UCB) through Professor Omar M.Yaghi’s research laboratory.
Lac Ha’s way of research over the 5 years was the Production of Metal–organic framework materials (MOFs, ZIFs, COFs) with new crystal structure, high order and symmetry, which had large specific surface area, and belonged to the group of oriented applications in gas storage (hydro, carbon dioxide, methane) to serve the needs of industry, capture the toxic gas from a mixture of exhaust fumes that cause greenhouse effect (gas separation), photocatalyst. Besides, he was also interested in studying materials with crystal structure of Geometric space and morphological symmetry.
In 2014, Nguyen Lac Ha was invited to practice at Professor Omar M. Yaghi’s laboratory in UCB and he was appreciated about his scientific research qualification by other professors. Besides, he also took part in many training courses about the structural analysis of materials undertaken by foreign experts from UCB (the United States), Samara University (Russia), The University of Milan (Italy). In October 2016, Lac Ha was awarded scholarship for excellent post-graduate of VNUHCM and successfully defended his PhD thesis from The Council of Specialized Units.
Nguyen Lac Ha reviewed his wish to work with good scientists, travel many places to study and enrich his knowledge both in science and life. He wished, together with his colleagues to make VNUHCM-INOMAR become an excellent research center following international standard, and contribute to improve scientific research ranking of the country compared with the region and the world.
