VNUHCM Supports Funding For International Scientific Publications
On 26/5, VNUHCM organized the workshop on the management of scientific publishing activities at VNUHCM. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Vice President of VNUHCM attended and delivered the opening speech.
There are more than 40 university administrators and researchers of VNUHCM’s member universities attending the workshop. Prof. Vu Hai Quan expects the workshop to be heard on issues related to the management of scientific publishing, ownership of scientific publications and policies to encourage scientific research.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Quang Vinh, Director of Department of Science and Technology said that VNUHCM has 3,605 researchers, of which 41% had PhD degrees; over 1,000 PhD students have been trained in domestic and international programs. To encourage research, VNUHCM is drafting a Guidelines for International Publications Support at VNUHCM.
Accordingly, the works published online or released in the year before the selection date and not violate Article 8 of the Law on Science and Technology will be funded. For international public works funded by the state budget, including research works which are compulsory under the theme of State-level scientific and technological projects and at VNUHCM level (topics of class A, B, C) … will not be considered.
The level of support for a project is decided by VNUHCM but no more than 30 times the base salary (no more than VND 39 million). Of which, the main author receives 60%, the co-author receives 40%, if there is only one author, the support level is 100%.
VNUHCM will support the works published on prestigious international journals listed in the database of Web of Science, Scopus … Expert groups and expert panels are to review on quality and value of the projects for proposal to the President of VNUHCM.
