More than 700 Million VND for the 2017 Startup Contest
Students both inside and outside VNUHCM who have startup ideas, projects could bring themselves to participate in the 2017 Creative Idea Contest – CIC organized by VNUHCM-Information Technology Park (VNUHCM-ITP) from January 16th to March 27th.
The contest has the total prize value up to 700 million VND, with 5 visits to Harvard University in 2 weeks for the five most distinguished individuals.
In particular, an attending group must have three to six members, and at least 50% of members are students of VNUHCM. Areas of registration included: E-commerce, Sharing Economy, fintech (Financial Technology), edutech (Educational Technology), IoT (Internet of Things), Artificial Intelligence, Virtualization Technology, Tourism, Community Projects creating value for society, Projects for serving the disabled, service products for foreign markets and foreigners. Organizers would evaluate ideas based on 4 criteria: Creative Innovation, Execution Ability, Project’s Impact, Professional Teamwork. The best ideas would receive a prize of 30 million VND in cash and a six-month iStartX course which is worth 10.000 USD. Besides, the organizers also awarded 2 Second prizes, 3 Third prizes, 5 Consolation prizes, 1 Community prize. Especially, 5 visits to Harvard University in 2 weeks were awarded to 5 best individuals, each visit was worth 5.000 USD, including travel and accommodation expenses. Mr. Le Nhat Quang (VNUHCM-ITP’s Marketing Manager) said: “CIC-a prestigious activity, which creates professional playground for students, was first organized in 2016, attracted more than 100 ideas. The 2017 CIC promises to be the place to promote the spirit of Innovation and Startup in students, university lecturers, to look for potential technology projects to incubate at VNUHCM-ITP”.
