Nobel Laureate Gerard’t Hooft’s Public Talk With Students

Prof. Gerardus’t Hooft, Nobel Prize Laureate in Physics, had a public talk with more than 1,000 students, and lecturers at VNUHCM-University of Technology in the afternoon of July 22nd.

Prof. Gerard’t Hooft presented the theme “The Basic Laws of Nature”

Prof. Huynh Thanh Dat – President of VNUHCM, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoi Nghia – Vice President of VNUHCM and leaders of University of Technology attended the event.

At the meeting, Prof. Gerardus’t Hooft presented the theme “The Basic Laws of Nature” and answered many questions about his progress of scientific research in the field of physics, basic laws of physical activity, etc …

Prof. Gerard’t Hooft is a theoretical physicist, lecturer, researcher at Utrecht University, Netherlands. In 1999, he and his instructor, Prof. Martinus J.G.Veltman, received the Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on “Quantum structure in electroweak interactions.” This is a solid mathematical foundation for the physical theory of elementary particles.

Prof. Gerardus’t Hooft has made important contributions to the field of standard field theory in elementary particle physics, the theory of quantum gravity and black holes in the universe, the research of fundamental foundations in mechanics quantum.

The exchange was co-organized by VNUHCM with the Vietnam Meeting Association to help scientists, physicists and students have the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in the field of physics.
