Young Reporters Week Awards 2016 announced winners on the Gala & Awards Night

On 23 December, The Gala & Awards Night celebrating Young Reporters Week was held at Hall D, VNUHCM-University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNUHCM-USSH). At the Gala, 11 awards on 3 categories, including Newspaper Report, Photo Reportage and TV Report, with total value 100 millions dong, were presented to 9 groups and individuals.
The Gala exhibited various impressive works from contest participants, namely: “Nativity scene decorations on Christmas season” photo reportage by Trần Thị Phương Thanh; “ Weaving generosity through the alleys of Saigon” newspaper report by Cây bút trẻ Team; “ Fortitude of the handicapped martial arts master” TV Report by HCD Plus, etc.
Besides, the Most Impressive Works Award of City Tour “Saigon Inside Out” went to Nguyễn Nguyệt Nhi (first-year student, Faculty of Journalism and Communication, VNUHCM-USSH) for “Tet markets are getting less attractive to citizens”; together with The Journalism Talent Award was presented to Trịnh Thủy Ngân (first-year student, Faculty of Economics, University of Foreign Trade, HCMC).
Mai Lan, journalist from Ho Chi Minh City Television, commented: “As the contest theme is “Diamond in the rough” , there are ranges of outstanding documentaries with great photos. Personally I prefer some of these works, however, if the contest participants changed a bit in their story-telling or photography techniques, these works would be improved much better. It’s somehow like a gem, shining even more brightly and attractively after being sharpen.
“Young Reporters Week” is annual event organized by Young Reporters Club ( Faculty of Journalism and Communication, VNUHCM-USSH). The event attracts students who have great interest and enthusiasm in journalism, communication activities in Ho Chi Minh City.
Nguyễn Nguyệt Nhi won The Most Impressive Work of City Tour “Saigon Inside Out”.
